Anaphora Arts is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the literary and artistic work of traditionally underrepresented groups and minorities, with a particular focus on writers and artists of color.
Anaphora seeks to: provide opportunities for emerging and established writers and artists of color through innovative and interdisciplinary programming; promote their work to the general public; and serve as a resource and learning center to research, develop and implement equitable practices in the arts and design fields. Additionally, Anaphora is committed to preserve, promote and disseminate the works of traditionally marginalized artists and writers through outreach, advocacy, and educational projects.
Anaphora partners with educational institutions, community centers, nonprofit organizations, museums, art galleries, alternative spaces, artist and writer collectives, publishing presses, and minority-owned businesses to advance its mission, and to contribute and preserve the artistic excellence of marginalized communities.
Anaphora is growing in its thinking and vision, and listening to members of the community, including educators, thinkers, artists, writers, cultural shakers, and students, and re-evaluating its program offering to respond to the needs of the communities we serve. As a result, we’re starting to develop programs at the intersections of the arts, technology and science; programs that cater to international participants with culturally relevant topics, and tailored programs that focus on the advancement and success of writers and artists of color.
Stay tuned for more updates as we roll out new and exciting programming!
